Increased suppressive measures against Christians in Iran

NCRI – On December 10, 2006, agents of the mullahs’ notorious Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) arrested a number of Iranian Christians in Tehran, Karaj and Rasht. The MOIS is pressuring them to cancel their religious ceremonies during Christmas and New Year.

The suppressive forces have raided their houses and confiscated their religious books, CDs, and pictures.

Following the arrests in the northern city of Rasht, the relatives of Christian detainees gathered outside the city court demanding information regarding their loved ones. However, the MOIS’s agents offended them verbally and beat them up. They were threatened to be arrested should they not disperse immediately. In the run up to Christmas, the Iranian Christians have been ordered not to hold the religious ceremonies and suppressive measures are implemented widely by the regime.

The Iranian Resistance calls on all international human rights organizations and the UN Rapporteur for Religious Freedom to condemn the inhuman acts by the ruling religious dictatorship in Iran against Christians and take immediate measures to free all detainees.
