NCRI – The Iranian Resistance warns about the wave of killing of those detained during the uprising and sympathizers of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) under the rubric of “Moharebeh” (waging war against God).
Mullah Ebrahim Raeesi, the First Deputy of the Iranian regime’s Judiciary, has stated in this regard that: What took place on the day of Ashura [December 27 protests in Iran] can be an example of Moharebeh. But, Moharebeh is also sometimes referred to an organization. An organization can become a Mohareb organization, like the Monafeqin Organization [derogatory term used by regime officials to refer to PMOI]. Anyone who helps Monafeqin in any way or under any circumstances, in light of the fact that the movements is an organized movement, would deserve the title of Mohareb” (State-run TV, December 30, 2009).
Raeesi, one of the members of the “Death Committee” and among those who primarily ordered and carried out the massacre of 30,000 PMOI and other political prisoners in 1988, explained “Moharebeh” within the context of the mullahs’ cruel laws by saying: Moharebeh is attributed to anyone who wages war against God and God’s Prophet; In other words, anyone who stands against the Islamic ruling system is a Mohareb.
He emphasized that using sticks and stones would also be considered “Moharebeh” and thus would warrant the death sentence.
Displaying utter brutality, mullah Raeesi confessed that in order to “speed up” the process of hanging the detainees, all of the regime’s officials and henchmen at the Judiciary have been marshaled.
Having failed to curb the brave uprising of the Iranian people, the leaders of the clerical regime repeatedly threaten protestors and participants of the courageous uprising in recent months with “the most severe punishment” in order to intensify the atmosphere of terror in society.
The Iranian Resistance warns about the cruel killing of a large number of those detained during the uprisings as well as political prisoners, and calls on the United Nations Secretary General, Security Council, High Commissioner for Human Rights, and other relevant international organs, to condemn the cruel human rights abuses committed by the clerical regime, which are a disgrace in the contemporary world. The Iranian Resistance also demands the adoption of binding measures against the regime, including the suspension of economic and political ties until all political prisoners in Iran have been freed, and until torture, hangings, and suppression in Iran have been completely ceased.
