Head of Prisons Organization admits to existence of more than 100 security detention centers

The detention centers are for interrogation and torture of political prisoners

NCRI – The head of the Iranian regime’s prisons, Ali-Akbar Yasaqi, admitted to the existence of “security detentions centers.” He said, “Hitherto, the security detention centers have been set up arbitrarily… Inside the [governmental] systems there should be a security detention center for those who are considered domestic or foreign security threats to the establishment.”

He reiterated that the regime needed such detention centers in order to torture and extract confessions from prisoners. He said, “At the end of the day, if someone commits a crime against the Islamic Republic’s foreign or domestic security, it has to be treated separately… When certain espionage or security matters are involved there is a need to wake up the prisoners for interrogation at any time. We are unable to prevent this action.”

Some time ago, in an interview with the government-run media, Yasaqi admitted to having more than one hundred private detention centers not under the supervision of the Prisons Organization.

The Iranian Resistance draws the attention of all international human rights organizations to the frightening admissions by the mullahs’ head of prisons and calls for the appointment of an international fact-finding mission to investigate the medieval regime’s torture chambers and prisons.
