Gathering and demonstration by thousands of residents in west Tehran

NCRI – This afternoon, thousands of Tehran residents gathered in Avesta Street, west Tehran, and demonstrated against the mullahs’ regime. The demonstration, which began at 3 p.m., was sparked by an attempt by agents of the State Security Forces (SSF) to arrest Ayatollah Sid Mohammad Boroujerdi.

A large number of plain-clothed government agents surrounded the area as SSF units went to Boroujerdi’s office to arrest him. However, the people who had crowded the area around his office prevented the agents from making the arrest.

Shortly afterwards, dozens of SSF vehicles with hundreds of SSF agents were dispatched to the area to prevent the demonstration from spreading elsewhere. At the late hour, a large number of youths are still present in the vicinity of Ayatollah Boroujerdi’s office.
