Free detained lawyers in Iran

July 9 uprising – Statement 2

NCRI – On Wednesday afternoon, on the eve of the anniversary of the July 9, 1999 uprising, simultaneous with widespread measures to prevent anti-government protests, the suppressive forces of the mullahs’ regime arrested a number of Iranian lawyers and jurists, including Mr. Mohammad-Ali Dadkhah and his colleagues, who were defending those arrested in recent weeks in the course of the nationwide uprising.

A number of other lawyers defending those recently detained, including Mr. Abdolfattah Soltani, have in recent weeks been arrested and are being held in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison.

The Iranian Resistance urges all relevant international bodies, human rights organizations and international judicial organizations and forums to condemn the regime’s suppressive actions against lawyers and jurists in Iran and take urgent steps to gain their freedom.
