Fifteen prisoners were hanged in less than a week in Iran

NCRI – The Iranian regime’s Prosecutor General in the northeastern city of Mashhad, Gholam Hossein Esmaili, announced that 15 prisoners had been hanged last week, the state-run daily Qods reported on Monday.

“The judiciary decisively hits back at those who are behind insecurity and drug trafficking and has executed 15 drug traffickers last week,” said Esmaili.

An increase in the number of hangings comes at a time when the mullahs’ regime is extremely apprehensive of the volatile state of society. In past few weeks, teacher uprisings, student demonstrations, and women protests have grown dramatically in various parts of the country. Last week, youths took to the streets when female university students were harassed by the State Security Forces (SSF) in Mashhad.

The Iranian Resistance called on the United Nations Secretary General, High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Human Rights Council as well as all international human rights organizations to condemn the barbaric human rights violation and arbitrary executions in Iran. It also called for a systematic monitoring of human rights situation in the country.
