Dozens of political prisoners from across Iran transferred to Tehran’s Gohardasht and Evin Prisons

NCRI – The mullahs’ odious regime with the intention of putting more pressure on political prisoners has transferred a number of them to maximum security prisons holding common and dangerous criminals, according to information received from the Resistance sources inside Iran.

Twenty-four political prisoners from various penitentiaries throughout the country such as Naqadeh and Orumieh in the northwest and Chalous in the north have been transferred to notorious Gohardasht (Rajahi-Shahr) prison. Gohardasht is a maximum security prison 40 km west of the capital Tehran holding common criminals, murderers and armed rubbery convicts.

On January 29, twenty-eight prisoners were also relocated from Gohardasht to Evin prison. Five of them were hanged the following day.

Such displacement of political prisoners has seriously endangered their lives. The Iranian Resistance called on all international human rights organizations to condemn new physical and psychological pressures exerted on political prisoners.
