Clashes between people and the State Security Forces (SSF) in various cities in Iran

NCRI – Despite repeated warnings by the leaders of the mullahs’ regime and commanders of SSF, various cities across the nation are more like the war zone. Explosion sounds from fire crackers and noisemakers are heard in all areas. Youths in their neighborhoods clashed with the SSF units shouting anti-government slogans on the anniversary of Fire celebrations traditionally held on the last Wednesday of the Iranian calendar year.

At the same time, the Chief of the SSF, Brig. Gen. Esmail Ahmadi-Moghaddam warned, “on last Wednesday [of the Iranian calendar year], we will swiftly deal with the intruders and those who disturb peace and security and engage in banditry. We will hold them in custody until the end of the year (according to the Iranian calendar year)…police will deal firmly with those who produce and distribute igneous materials,” the state-run daily Etemad-Meli reported on March 11.

This afternoon, the regime announced the formation of a Crisis Committee in Tehran. “On Tuesday, Tehran’s Crisis Committee will resume its work. The committee members are: Deputy Commander of Greater Tehran’s Police and a representative from the Prosecutor’s Office as well as [representatives] from municipal services. According to same source the intelligence officers working for the SSF will collect information for this headquarters from all over the city. The operational units under the command of this Committee will patrol the areas,” the state-run news agency Mehr reported today.

Brig. Gen. Ali Khan-Chairli, Deputy Commander for Operations in the Greater Tehran’s SSF said, “Men and women dancing and celebrating together are prohibited. Women should not uncover their heads. He called these measures red lines of Festival of Fire Celebrations…The Elite Revolutionary Guards’ Corps (IRGC) Sarollah Regional Command formed the Crisis Committee which will designate the areas in the city to be cleared up. Two hundred units divided into five member Intelligence Squads will be operational in the city. In addition 100 motorcycle teams in the even formation will be used to clear the troubled areas.”

In various cites such as Tehran, Karmanshah, Mashhad, Boukan, Mahabad, Khorramabad, Isfahan, Golistan, Karaj, Andimashk, Marand, Garmsar and many other cities across Iran clashes between people and SSF continued during the night of Festival of Fire Celebration.

In Tehran, SSF ordered communications’ centers, stores, and banks in city center to close down by 2 p.m. The SSF units’ presence was visible through out the city. The SSF special units attacked Taslihat Square and arrested a number of people calling them “trouble makers” there. A branch of Rifah-Kargaran Bank was set on fire by people. Also in the Ekbatan Township, Nasser District, San’at Square, Quds Township, and Haft Hoze in Narmak District were declared by the SSF as “troubled areas.”
