Use of Fragmentation Grenades in attack on Camp Ashraf

Iranian opposition’s Ashraf attacked – Statement 64

NCRI – In addition to sonic and smoke dispensing grenades used during the recent attacks against the defenseless Ashraf residents, the Iraqi police suppressive forces also used sonic fragmentation grenades. This characteristic has been labeled on its shell.

The grenade has an outer shell that after the initial explosion separates and explodes away from the main body. As the outer shell explodes, in addition to a sonic explosion, about 500 plastic shrapnel, 1.00 cm in diameter, scatter in the air. The shrapnel cause minor injuries after hitting people close to the area of explosion. However, they could be dangerous if they strike the eye or head.
