Iranian opposition’s Camp Ashraf attacked – Statement 52

NCRI – Belgium’s Foreign Minister last night commented on the criminal attack by Iraqi forces against Camp Ashraf. Mr. Yves Leterme said that, “Any use of disproportionate violence in confronting unarmed civilians, including women and children, anywhere in the world is to be condemned.” The Belgian FM added, “Nonetheless, it is very early to adopt a decisive stance regarding the very incomplete and contradictory reports about the events in Ashraf.”

The Iranian Resistance welcomes the condemnation of use of violence and recalls that parts of the crimes committed by Iraqi forces against Ashraf on July 28 and 29 have been reported by independent sources. The Resistance emphasizes that after two days of denials, the Iraqi government was forced today to acknowledge the death of 7 Ashraf residents. The Iranian Resistance calls on the Belgian government, Foreign Ministry and embassy in Amman to send a delegation to visit Camp Ashraf to obtain independent and objective accounts of events in Ashraf firsthand, to become informed about the scope of the crimes committed by the Iraqi forces and the Iranian regime’s agents, and to present a factual report to the European Union.
