The Iranian regime’s latest conspiracies against Camp Ashraf

The Iranian regime’s latest conspiracies against Camp Ashraf, detention and trial of Ashraf residents’ family members inside Iran

NCRI – According to reports obtained from inside the Iranian regime, concurrent with the presence of the regime’s agents at Camp Ashraf’s main gate, the terrorist Quds Force (extraterritorial arm of the mullahs’ Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) and the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) seek to organize further conspiracies against the residents of Ashraf, which is located in Diyala province in Iraq. Some of these plots, which are planned with the cooperation of the government of Iraq and make use of Iraqi agents and proxies, are as follows:

1. The terrorist Quds Force has chosen Sadeq Jaafar al-Husseini, a commander in the 9th Badr Brigade, deputy leader of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC) in Diyal province and deputy of the Diyala Provincial Council, to coordinate the activities of the Iranian regime’s Iraqi proxies against Camp Ashraf. Al-Husseini’s uncle, Abu Ali al-Zuhairi, who is the Deputy Minister of Human Rights in Iraq, as well as his bother-in-law, Ali al-Husseini, cooperate with him closely in this regard. Both al-Husseini’s uncle and brother-in-law are also members of the Badr Brigade and SIIC. Ali al-Husseini spent years in Iran and just recently returned to Diyala province.

2. According to the Quds Force’s plan, Abu Ali al-Zuhairi is to establish a so-called human rights center in the city of Khalis. The main objective of the center is to organize prospective activities of the Iranian regime’s agents against Ashraf.

3. “Kidnapping one of the commanders of Ashraf” and using it for propaganda purposes, while “creating mistrust among the PMOI [People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran] members in order to create a rift between the PMOI’s commanders from the rest of the residents in Ashraf.”

4. Disseminating lies, including that two of the thirty-six members of PMOI taken hostage during the July 28-29 assault against Ashraf have fled the camp, are currently in the hands of the Iraqi government, and will be subsequently turned over to their own families.

5. Filing complaints against PMOI officials by MOIS agents in Iraq claiming that their children are forcibly imprisoned in Ashraf, and calling for the arrest of PMOI officials in accordance with the law of combating terrorism and launching other fabricated cases against Ashraf residents. These complaints revolve around the false claim that the land where Ashraf has been built belongs to private owners and was seized by the PMOI.

These conspiracies and suppressive measures against Ashraf residents come at a time when the detention, torture and trial of Ashraf residents' families inside Iran continue unabated with many of the families currently imprisoned. In a recent case, eight months after her arrest, Ms. Maryam Akbari, a political prisoner, was summoned to a sham trial by the clerical regime on April 27, 2010.  The judge told Ms. Akbari that she was charged with 'moharebeh' (waging war against God) since "all your family members and relatives are in Ashraf and several of your relatives were PMOI members and have been executed. The charge in your file is also stated as ‘moharebeh’."
