Sit-ins and protest actions by Iranian exiles in 19 cities around the world

 Camp Ashraf attacked – Statement 39

NCRI – Following the violent attacks of the past two days by Iraqi forces against the defenseless residents of Camp Ashraf at the behest of the Iranian regime, which has thus far left 12 dead, 450 wounded, and dozens arrested, Iranian exiles, Resistance supporters and families of Ashraf residents, protested against the brutal attacks on Wednesday by staging sit-ins in 19 cities around the world in support of the of Ashraf residents.

These protest acts were carried out in the cities of Washington (US), Berlin (Germany), London (Britain), Dublin (Ireland), Brussels (Belgium), Copenhagen and Aarhus (Denmark), Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmo (Sweden), Geneva (Switzerland), Paris (France), Helsinki (Finland), Ottawa and Vancouver (Canada), Oslo (Norway), Amsterdam and The Hague (The Netherlands), and Sydney (Australia).

Demonstrators carried pictures of those slain in Ashraf during the attack, and chanted: “Shame, Shame, Shame: Shame on such deals,” “Death to Khamenei, both in Ashraf and Tehran,” “Maliki commits crimes, Khamenei supports it,” “Heroes of Ashraf, we support you.”

Among the demonstrators’ demands are the immediate withdrawal of Iraqi forces from Ashraf, assumption of protection of Ashraf by the US, immediate release of the detainees, and prosecution of those who ordered and committed the crimes of the past two days.

Delegations from families of residents of Ashraf referred to American embassies and the US State Department and demanded from the US government to act on its responsibility to provide protection for Camp Ashraf.
