Release of six hostages by court’s verdict

Camp Ashraf military occupation- No. 53

NCRI – In their seventh day of hunger strike, the six hostages, members of the PMOI, were released by the verdict of the court of Khalis. They returned to camp Ashraf at 1 pm on April 14 amid jubilation of Ashraf residents.

Bahman Toloo, Mehdi Ghafouri, Hamid Makki, Hossein Eyni, Babak Karimi, and Asghar Mehdizadeh, all members of the PMOI, are currently under medical supervision. They were abducted during the assault by Iraqi Army armored units on April 8 on Ashraf after being criminally battered and injured and unconscious.
Freedom of hostages was secured through an extensive international campaign and activities of Iraqi and international lawyers and jurists.

Amnesty International voiced serious concern and called for urgent international action yesterday, April 13, regarding hostages’ health and the threat of their torture, iterating that no charges have been brought against them.

Mrs. Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, commemorated the thirty-four PMOI martyrs in Ashraf in their seventh day of passing away and congratulated PMOI members in Ashraf for the release of their hostages.

She expressed her gratitude for the international campaign that secured hostages’ freedom.
