Paris: International Conference in presence of high American and European dignitaries

Call to U.S., EU and UN for the withdrawal of Iraqi forces from Ashraf and ensuring the protection of its residents

NCRI – April 13, at an international conference in Paris, senior American officials from Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations, as well as French and European politicians have condemned the massacre of Ashraf residents on April, 8. They called for an immediate end to Ashraf occupation by Iraqi forces and ensuring the protection of its residents by the United States and the United Nations.

While protesting against the Washington’s inaction concerning Ashraf residents’ protection and the crime against humanity which they’ve been victims of, participants called on the United States, the European Union and the UN to intervene immediately to end the catastrophic situation in Ashraf. The murderous assault on April 8 by Maliki’s forces, ordered by Khamenei, against 3400 Ashraf residents, with tanks and heavy weaponry, has so far resulted in 34 dead, 318 injured and six hostages who have started a hunger strike despite their injuries. The situation is still critical and the threat of another attack still there.

Edit Cresson, French Prime Minister from 1991 to 1992, Jacques Attali, economic expert and advisor to President Francois Mitterrand, Mario Stasi former president of Paris Bar, General Hugh Shelton Chair, U.S. Joint Chief of Staff from 1997 to 2001, Ambassador Dell L. Dailey,  U.S. State Department Coordinator for Counterterrorism from 2007 to 2009, Patrick Kennedy, son of late Senator Edward Kennedy and U.S. congressman from 1995 to 2011, Ambassador John Bolton,  Former U.S. ambassador to the UN, Louis Freeh, FBI director from 1993 to 2001, Günter Verheugen, European Commissioner from 1999 to 2009 and former German Minister for European Affairs, and Juan Garcès, Spanish lawyer who lodged an  international complaint against Pinochet, and lawyer of Ashraf residents’ families.

In her speech, Mrs. Rajavi, president-elect of the Iranian Resistance, stated that although the massacre at Ashraf was executed by the Iraqi dictator, the incident is in its entirety linked to the political equation that has the clerical regime on the one side and the Iranian people on the other. As a matter of fact, the assault was part and parcel of the mullahs’ suppressive measures aimed at taming the Iranian people’s uprisings.
Mrs. Rajavi called on the U.S., EU and UN to intervene urgently for the withdrawal of the assaulting Iraqi forces from Ashraf.

She asked
– The resumption of Ashraf’s protection by the US government and posting of a permanent monitoring team from the United Nations in the camp to prevent a plan to massacre the residents of Ashraf
– The immediate release of six wounded hostages on hunger strike,
– The transfer of all serious wounded to the U.S. military hospital near Ashraf,
– Opening Ashraf’s doors to a UN delegation, lawyers, parliamentarians and journalists,
– The setting up of an international fact finding mission to investigate the assault of Maliki’s on Ashraf  and the lifting of the inhuman blockade of 28 months,
– Stopping the psychological torture of Achrafiens through 240 loudspeakers.

She also stressed the need to remove the PMOI from the US terrorist list, which currently offers to the religious fascism the license for the massacre of Ashraf residents in Iraq and political prisoners in Iran
