Maryam Rajavi calls for immediate return Camp Liberty residents to Ashraf

NCRI – President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, extended her condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Hamid Rabi.

She emphasized that, “Such great crime is not something that the Iranian people and resistance, families of martyrs and also supporters of Camp Ashraf residents from all over the world would forget or would forego legal prosecution of those involved in ordering or facilitating the crime.”

Hamid Rabi was 52 and had 34 years of track record in struggle against the theocratic-fascist regime that rules Iran. He was a civil engineer graduated from United Kingdom and was a political refugee to Germany holding permanent residency in that country.

German officials interviewed him on December 11, 2012. All that was required was for the German embassy to renew his passport or give him temporary entry papers. Hamid was also injured during the July 2009 attack and had lost part of his hearing as a result.

The Iranian Resistance, following his injury during the February 9 rocket attack on Liberty, called for his immediate transfer to Germany. The request was shared with UNAMI officials, UNHCR, Germany and the United States.

The NCRI accordingly accepted all expenses for transfer, accommodation and medical treatments in writing. Hamid personally asked the UN officials during his first days of injury for his transfer to Germany for medical treatment.

Mrs. Rajavi reiterated: “Not transferring a critically wounded Liberty resident who held a refugee passport and permanent residency of Germany clearly shows that subsequent to the fact that 2,000 of the residents have been interviewed, keeping 3100 refugees in the killing field of Camp Liberty under the pretext of continuing the interviews or the mirage of transferring them to outside of Iraq is extremely dangerous and only paves the way for further massacres. This is a trap that Kobler had set up from the onset in order to pursue the objectives of Khamenei and Maliki. But the era of this deception has come to an end.”

She added: The most urgent issue is to provide protection for the residents of Liberty immediately and that can be guaranteed by quick transfer of all of them to the U.S., even for a transitional period.

Particularly since the US had signed an agreement with each and every one of the residents, guaranteeing their protection until their final disposition.

Following the transfer of the sixth convoy of the residents to camp Liberty, in a statement on August 29, the US State Department once again reiterated the US commitment regarding “the safety and security of the residents throughout the process of their relocation outside of Iraq”.
Mrs. Rajavi added: otherwise, the only practical solution for providing a relative safety and security for the residents and to prevent further massacres is their return to Ashraf and to continue the refugee process and transfer to third countries from there.
