Camp Ashraf Military Occupation – No. 61
NCRI – Delay in treating Majid Mohammadi, 48, one of the Camp Ashraf residents who injured by the criminal attack of Iraqi forces against Camp Ashraf on April 8, forced doctors to amputate one of his legs. Majid is a former political prisoner who was imprisoned and tortured for 8 years, in the prisons of the religious fascist government of Iran.
Along with a number of other members of Mojahedin, he was attacked at 5:20 on the morning of April 8th by grenades and gunshots, thrown and fired at him by the Iraqi forces from a distance of about 50 meters. In that specific incident, Jafar Barji and Mohammad-Reza Yazdandoust were killed and a number of Mojahedin members, including Majid, were severely injured.
Majid was first hit in his ankle. His friends put him in an ambulance to be taken to a hospital, but then, the Iraqi forces started firing rounds at the ambulance. His other leg was hit and the main artery of his leg was cut, hemorrhaging severely. As a result of the Iraqi forces obstructions, by the time Majid reached the hospital, he had lost a lot of blood and his leg had suffered massive internal bleeding. Consequently, the surgeons had to remove his right leg.
Attacking ambulances and obstructing treatment of the wounded are both gross violations of international conventions and are considered crimes against humanity and war crimes.
