Iraqi Gov. continues to obstruct Iranian refugees free access to medical care

campliberty-mapIt has been more than three months that Major Ahmed Khozair, a criminal affiliated to the Iraqi Prime Ministry stationed in Camp Liberty, has been obstructing patients’ treatment and has been preventing them from going to hospital.

Yesterday, Saturday January 18, Iraqi forces announced that interpreters of cancer and acute heart disease patients who were supposed to be transferred to Baghdad cannot accompany them, and therefore these patients, who cannot speak Arabic or English, cannot visit doctors.

On Thursday January 16, interpreters and nurses were prevented from accompanying patients including an emergency patient to Baghdad and eventually patients left the camp with three hours delay, practically missing most of their medical appointments and returning to Liberty with no result.

Most of the times and for no reason, ambulance carrying patients waits for hours at the camp’s exit and many appointments are cancelled due to these delays.

The January 6, 2014 statement of the National Council of Resistance of Iran says: “Ahmed Khozair, criminal Major of Iraqi Intelligence, an agent of the Prime Ministry in Camp Liberty, prevent the four interpreters and nurses to accompany patients on January 5, 2014 and obstructed their visit to Baghdad hospital.”

Ahmed Khozair is a criminal who has been directly involved in the September 1, 2013 massacre, mass execution and abductions and the April 8, 2011 massacre in Ashraf. He has also played the principal role in imposing an anti-human medical siege against the members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK).

Prevention of free access to medical services and delays in treatment of patients has so far led to tormenting to death of 16 residents of Ashraf and Camp Liberty.
