NCRI – On Monday for the fourth consecutive day, at the request of the religious fascism ruling Iran, Iraqi forces prevented three trucks of food from entering Ashraf.  In these four days 9 food trucks have been prevented from entering Ashraf and were turned away at of Ashraf gates.

This inhumane act and the escalation of the unjust siege on Ashraf which has continued for five months, is the prelude to the slaughter of Ashraf residents and a humanitarian catastrophe.

At the same time, Mohsen Hakim, the son of Abdulaziz Hakim, a well-known element of the Iranian regime, has stated, "from tomorrow (June 30) Americans will not be able to even monitor the situation in Ashraf and the Iraqi government will have full control." (ISNA News Agency, June 29, 2009). It is a sign of the mullahs' regime's cruel intentions against Ashraf and set the stage for annihilation of its residents.

The crisis stricken Iranian regime, engulfed with internal feuding and unable to control the nationwide uprisings of the Iranian people which has entered its third week, is trying to export its irreversible crisis by plotting for the massacre of Ashraf residents.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian resistance described the prevention of entrance of food to Ashraf an inhumane and unprecedented act in the 21st century and called on the UN Secretary General, Security Council, High Commissioner for Human Rights and all relevant international bodies of the United Nations to condemn this crime and to take urgent action to end siege of Ashraf.

In a letter addressed to Ashraf residents, the President, Secretary of State, and Defense Secretary of the United States, foreign, interior, and human rights ministers of Iraq, and Commander of MNF-I, the International Committee of Jurists in Defense of Ashraf (which encompass 8,500 lawyers in Europe and United States) voiced its utmost outrage against the prevention of food trucks from entering Ashraf and strongly condemned the continuation of the malicious siege of Ashraf as an unlawful act.

This committee requested the Iraqi government to immediately accept and implement the April 24 European Parliament's resolution.  It has called for an end to the siege of Ashraf, the guarantee of Ashraf residents' right as protected persons under the fourth Geneva Convention, and the prevention of displacement and expulsion of Ashraf residents within Iraq.
