Iraqi agents continue to block entry of essential logistics to Camp Liberty

Camp-Liberty-300

NCRI – By the orders of the Governmental Committee tasked to suppress Ashraf, Iraqi forces are obstructing entry of vehicles carrying repair and maintenance items for the second straight week. These items are necessary for the maintenance of camp’s infrastructure and water purification system and the generators that produce camp’s electricity. If this condition is allowed to continue, camp’s infrastructures will be disrupted and considering the hot season, residents will soon experience serious crisis.

Sadeq Mohammed Kadhim and Ahmed Khozair from the Committee tasked to suppress Ashraf, are preventing entry of these items that have been purchased by residents themselves and that have been already transferred to the container that belongs to the residents.

Obstructing entry of basic humanitarian needs is a flagrant violation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the United Nations and the Iraqi government on 25 December 2011, as well as a breach of many international conventions that demands legal prosecution.

The Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations and the U.S. government that have repeatedly and in writing committed themselves to the wellbeing and security of the Liberty residents, to take immediate steps to end this antihuman siege.
