Iraq: Inhuman pressure on Iranians in Camp Liberty

NCRI – Iraqi suppressive forces under the command of Iraq’s prime ministry have increased their inhumane pressure on residents of Camp Liberty at the behest of the clerical regime ruling in Iran.

1. Major Ahmed Khozair, an agent of the Iraqi prime ministry and who was involved in two massacres of 2009 and 2011 of residents of Camp Ashraf, together with men under his command, have once again in recent days prevented the departure of sewage tankers from the camp to discharge camp’s sewage. Due to the absence of essential infrastructures, Camp Liberty residents have to transfer the camp’s black water out of the camp using sewage tankers. However, every so often, Ahmed Khozair devises various excuses to prevent these tankers from leaving the camp.

2. In this regard, on June 6, when sewage tankers driven by residents tried to enter the camp, they were stopped by Iraqi forces and the drivers were told to step down for inspection. A prime ministry agent pushed one of the drivers hard and threw him to the floor, and insultingly told another driver that he could no longer enter and leave the camp. The aim of these provocative measures is to create clashes and crises in Camp Liberty.

3. In another provocative act, at midnight on June 5, prime ministry agents hurled stones at the residents’ temporary housing units in Camp Liberty, waking up them and medical patients and causing great distress.

4.On June 6, when two residents responsible for Liberty’s logistical affairs went to the camp’s entrance, prime ministry agents again insulted them and threatened them with arrest.

The Iranian Resistance calls on the U.S. government and the United Nations to take immediate action to stop these measures aimed at imposing pressure and psychological torture on the residents, instigating violence, and paving the way for further attacks.
