Iranian resistance draws UN and U.S. attention to foul plots against Ashraf by Iran regime

Camp AshrafIranian Resistance draws attention of UN and US to foul plot by Iran regime and Iraqi committee responsible for suppression of Ashraf

Dispatch of the third group of families to Ashraf by the mullahs’ Ministry of Intelligence

NCRI – The Iranian Resistance draws the attention of the United Nations Secretary General, Special Representative of the Secretary General, United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), the United States Government and the American forces in Iraq to an extensive conspiracy by the Iranian regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) against the residents of Camp Ashraf in Iraq.

In a ridiculous and revolting show, the MOIS in coordination with the Iraqi embassy in Tehran on one hand and the Iranian embassy in Baghdad cooperating with the Iraqi committee in charge of suppression of Ashraf residents on the other, dispatch a number of relatives of a few Ashraf residents to Iraq. Then, these relatives who are in contact with the MOIS and trusted by the regime’s intelligence are taken to Ashraf. When they arrive at the entrance of Ashraf, the Iraqi committee prevents them from going inside the Camp. While outside the Camp, they create a situation to pretend as if the PMOI is preventing Ashraf residents from meeting their relatives.

The clerical regime that has failed in its evil plots against the residents of Ashraf, particularly in the past year, and angered by the extent of widespread international attention and support for the rights of Ashraf residents, is now trying in vain to make up for its failures and pave the way for further suppression of Ashraf residents and exertion of pressure on them once again.

On Sunday, February 14, the third group of families of Ashraf residents comprised of 12 people, who were dispatched by the MOIS to Iraq, was taken to the main entrance gate of Ashraf. Two previous groups were taken there on February 8 and 11. One of the people among them by the names of Mohammad Ali Sojoudi is not a relative of any of the Ashraf residents, but is an agent of MOIS who is controlling and guiding the people dispatched to Iraq.

One of the agents dispatched among the third group is Mostafa Mohammadi, father of Ms. Somayeh Mohammadi, member of the PMOI. Mostafa is a known agent of the MOIS and has been sent to Ashraf more than ten times over the recent years to create chaos and crisis. The American forces, Canadian embassy and the International Committee of the Red Cross as well as other relevant bodies are aware of his intentions and plans. Ms. Mohammadi has directly provided detailed information about the mission of this agent against her and Ashraf to above authorities.

In a statement on April 11, 2008, referring to this matter, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran said: “In December 2007, a group of agents of the MOIS and Qods Force were sent from Iran and other countries to Iraq to conspire against PMOI members residing in Ashraf, to complain and spread false information against them. They were accommodated in Baghdad’s Al-Mansour Hotel and put under the control of the Iranian regime’s embassy in Baghdad. Some of these agents who had to stay in Iraq for three months to complete their mission are; Massoud Khodabandeh, Mostafa Mohammadi, … these agents were staying on the third floor of Al-Mansour Hotel under the supervision of Qods Force and mullahs’ intelligence agents, namely Tabatabai, Nowbakht and Assadi. All their expenses and hotel fees were paid for by the Iranian embassy. They first attended a ludicrous seminar entitled ‘Campaign against terrorism’ that was attended by 20 agents of the regime.”

MOIS offices in various provinces including Tehran, Western and Eastern Azarbaijan, Qazvin and Zanjan are approaching the relatives of Ashraf residents whom they trust and tell them to acquire entry visas to Iraq from the embassy in Tehran after a briefing session. Necessary arrangements and coordination with the Iraqi embassy and the Office of Iraqi Prime Minister are made to facilitate issuing of their visas.

On previous occasions, MOIS briefed the families to be dispatched to Iraq in Tehran and did all the required coordination there.  However, following the revelations by the Iranian regime, the briefings and coordination of the latest groups are carried out by the local branches of the MOIS to appear as though their visit to Iraq is self motivated.

All the matters related to those dispatched, including their transportations inside Iraq to and from Ashraf among other needs are provided by the Iraqi committee for suppression of Ashraf in coordination with the Iranian regime's embassy in Iraq. The dispatched family members are kept at the premises of the Iraqi battalion outside the camp and on daily basis they are escorted to the camp's entrance by Iraqi forces' to chant slogans against Ashraf using high powered loudspeakers supplied to them in order to create mayhem at Ashraf entrance.

The Iraqi committee responsible for Ashraf brings reporters from Iranian regime's affiliated news media and Iraqi state-run TV channel, al-Iraqiya, to the camp's entrance to film the ridiculous stage-managed shows to be broadcast as part of their adverse propaganda against Ashraf residents and the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

The dispatch of these groups of family members of Ashraf residents are taking place while the Iraqi government has been declining visas for members of families of Ashraf residents inside and outside Iran since early 2009, when the security of Ashraf residents was handed over to the Iraqi forces. Also a few who had managed to reach Ashraf by going through much hardship were denied entry to the camp by the Iraqi forces.  Currently, a number of family members who had travelled to Ashraf in previous years are detained, charged with "mohareb" (enemy of God), imprisoned and put under sever torture by the Iranian regime.
