For 23rd day Maliki forces block fuel, food delivery to Iranians in Camp Liberty

NCRI – On Tuesday and Wednesday, September 2 and 3, forces under the command of Nouri al-Maliki continued preventing entry of fuel and foodstuff to Camp Liberty in Iraq that houses Iranians recognized as asylum seekers.

For the past 23 days, Nouri al-Maliki has ratcheted up the anti-human and criminal blockade of Camp Liberty at the behest of the Iranian regime.

Through denying fuel, Government of Iraq has disrupted the electricity, as well as all of the infrastructures and public services in the camp forcing the residents to live in the 48 degrees centigrade heat in metal containers with no air-conditioners.

A number of the residents have suffered heat stroke and are in very dire conditions.

Depriving Camp Liberty residents of fuel, especially in the summer heat of Iraq, in a camp that all of the infrastructures and daily life routines are dependent on electricity, is an anti-human crime whose perpetrators must be prosecuted.

The Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations and the U.S. government that have repeatedly and in writing committed themselves to the safety and security of the residents to take immediate measures toward the annulment of this anti-human siege and to get trucks of food, fuel and other logistical needs to enter the camp in a normal and daily basis.
