Bullet hit the dinning container of Section 4 of Camp Liberty

Destruction of part of the container’s wall and hits and damage chair and dishes

On Tuesday  evening, a 7.62 mm bullet that was fired at or ricocheted off  from outside Camp Liberty, hit the western wall of the dinning container of Section No. 4 of the camp.   The bullet passed through the wall of the container, hitting chair and dishes. The  projectile of the bullet was found in the dining area.

At the time of the incident there was no one in the dining area and there was no casualties.

The Iranian Resistance had already warned the US and UN authorities in numerous statements and letters that removing the prefabricated T-walls from inside of Camp Liberty, would make the residents who live in containerized housing units very vulnerable to casualties in case of any direct shooting or shrapnel hitting the camp.  The Iranian Resistance had urged the US Government and the UN that in light of their responsibility towards the protection of the residents, to stop persistent aggression by the Iraqi forces including the removing of the T-walls.

The Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, in its April 24 statement  had stated: ” Iraqi forces are steeling and selling these  prefabricated T-walls. …The residents have even suggested that if Iraqi forces want  to sell the T-walls, the residents would be willing to pay for them so that already  dilapidated containerized housing units of the Camp Liberty would not become more unsafe for Camp Liberty residents.”

Once again, the Iranian Resistance demands the return of the T- walls to provide some protective shield for the camp residents.
