Ashraf’s electric station occupied by attacking forces

Camp Ashraf  military occupation – NO.74

NCRI – Maliki’s forces prevented Ashraf residents’ technicians from entering the camp’s electric station. This power plant that was built by Ashraf residents at their own expense provides electricity for Ashraf when power from main networks is cut off. Disrupting work in the power station in conditions when there are more than 300 wounded Ashraf residents inside the camp places their lives in danger.

This power station was built in 2007 to provide a portion of the electricity needed for the Ashraf’s vital and services facilities including the hospital, food storages, the water distribution station, ice-making facilities, the bakery and this power station consists of six 1MW generators and six low-to-high voltage transformers. All the generators were purchased from outside Iraq at the expense of Ashraf residents. Their transfer to Ashraf was carried out in coordination with US forces whom at the time were responsible for Ashraf’s protection. All documents regarding the purchase of these generators are available.

The construction of this power house and purchase of the generators, along with the all the relevant equipment, totaled to over $5 million. All documents in this regard are available. The area of this power house equals to 7,800 square meters, which along with the generators and electric facilities includes three 30,000-liter fuel tanks and one generator oil tank.
