Gradual killing of patients and precluding transfer of terminal patients to Baghdad and Baquba

NCRI – In a new antihuman measure, Iraqi suppressive forces intensified the medical siege on Ashraf by preventing terminal patients from going to hospitals in Baghdad and Baquba.

On Monday morning (March 12), eight patients were supposed to be taken to the hospitals in Baghdad and Baquba according to their appointments and coordination already made with the Iraqi forces. However, upon orders of the committee tasked with suppression of Ashraf, they were rejected and sent back from the New Iraq hospital in Ashraf which is under the control of Iraqi forces. Their trip had been coordinated with the New Iraq hospital since Wednesday, March 7; also, the Iraqi forces and the New Iraq hospital had confirmed that no problem existed concerning their trip. But, Ashraf suppressive committee cancelled their trip today without specifying any other date. This is while most of these patients are in critical conditions and are in need of immediate treatment.

In yet another event on Sunday March 11, Iraqi suppressive forces precluded three patients of Ashraf, Messrs. Hamid Reza Masoumi, Ali Akbar Mardani and Rashid Karimi, from going to Baghdad for chemotherapy or surgery operation; Whereas all these three patients should have been transferred to hospital on that same day, and necessary coordination had been made with the hospital and Iraqi forces. Nevertheless, Iraqi forces on Sunday morning postponed their trip to next week upon the orders of Ashraf suppressive committee.

Underscoring that gradual killing is a flagrant violation of international law and a clear example of crime against humanity, the Iranian Resistance called for immediate intervention of the U.S. government and the United Nations to end this tyrannical siege and emphasized that U.S. and UN are responsible for any harm inflicted on the residents of Ashraf and Liberty.
