Iran: The Staggering Number of Coronavirus Death Toll in 480 Cities Exceeds 213,400

• Disgraceful figures about regime’s vaccination plans, announced by Alireza Reisi, the spokesman for the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT): 20,000 doses of vaccine have been imported so far and 100,000 doses will be imported next week. Vaccination will start daily with 1,000 people. By March 29, 2021, 1.3 million people, or 1.5 percent of the population, will be vaccinated. (Tasnim news agency, February 9, 2021)

• Despite the NCCT’s disgraceful announcement, Rouhani, who is very angry about widespread protests against the regime’s delay in vaccination, said: “They have been saying for a long time why didn’t Iran start vaccination like other countries? What are they going to say today? They will again find an excuse.

• Masoud Mardani, member of the NCCT’s Scientific Committee: Many of the sections (in medical centers) which we were about to close, had to be reopen on a limited scale (due to the new Coronavirus outbreak). • Dezful University of Medical Sciences: These days we have returned to the peak of the Coronavirus outbreaks in Dezful as well as in the country. Half of the cities of Khuzestan are affected by this situation. (IRNA news agency, February 9, 2021)

• Hasheminejad Hospital in Mashhad: ICU is full of COVID-19 patients right now. The emergency room which we have assigned to the respiratory department is also relatively full. (State TV, February 8, 2021)

• In Mazandaran Provinces, 18 people have died due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. (Javan daily, February 9, 2021)

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 480 cities had exceeded 213,400. The number of victims in Tehran is 51,291, Isfahan 13,650, Khuzestan 10,655, Mazandaran 8,902, Lorestan 8,723, East Azerbaijan 8,113, Gilan 7,611, Fars 6,432, Hamedan 5,043, Kerman 4,734, Yazd 3,917, Qazvin 2,359, Zanjan 2,310, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 1,594.
