· In July, 1,500 Coronavirus patients were hospitalized at Khomeini Hospital in Tehran alone, 310 of whom died.
· In the past 20 days, 15 to 20 people have died in Shiraz, daily. The death toll will double if those “suspected of Coronavirus” are included.
· Massoud Mardani, a member of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT): The situation is much worse than in February and March; all hospitals are full of Coronavirus patients, and doctors and nurses are exhausted.
· Kashmar Governor: The number of hospitalized Coronavirus patients in Moddares Hospital has increased by 14 times
· Yaftabad Hospital: Since June 21, hospital beds have been filled, and 15 patients in the emergency ward are waiting to be hospitalized daily.
The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Monday, August 3, 2020, that the number of Coronavirus victims in 347 cities across Iran had reached more than 82,000. The number of victims in Qom is 4,295, Mazandaran 3,825, Gilan 3,465, Lorestan 3,285, Sistan and Baluchestan 2,561, West Azerbaijan 2,447, East Azerbaijan 2,395, Fars 2,200, Golestan 2,197, Kurdistan 1,650, Hormozgan 1,020, Ardabil 952, and Central Province 925.
Trying to evade any responsibility for the Coronavirus crisis, Saeed Namaki, the regime’s Health Minister, told Mehr news agency yesterday, “I wrote a letter to the Supreme Leader when there were about 30 deaths daily, and told him about the three-digit death tolls in the coming weeks and months.” He added, “The forecasts show that the probability of the correlation of the flu and Coronavirus in fall, is more than 80 percent.”
Massoud Mardani, a member of NCCT, told Asr-e Iran daily, “Currently, the situation in Iran is much worse than in February and March. All hospitals are full of Coronavirus patients, and doctors and nurses are exhausted. Since mid-May, a chromosomal mutation has occurred in the virus, increasing its transmitting power by three to nine times.”
Babak Negahdari, advisor to Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of the regime parliament, expressed his reaction to the revelation of the actual dimensions of the Coronavirus tragedy in Iran. He said: “These days in addition to the Coronavirus, we are faced with another virus, people sitting behind their computers in Tirana, the capital of Albania, and attacking social networks with countless lies and distortions.”
In Tehran, the deputy director of the NCCT, said yesterday, “All public, private, charitable and semi-public hospitals are dealing with the Coronavirus at the present. Even some private hospitals, such as Ithar Hospital, accept only Coronavirus patients. In Tehran, half of ICU adult beds have been allocated to Coronavirus patients. Two-thirds of Coronavirus patients are hospitalized in ordinary wards and one-third in special wards.” The head of Yaftabad Hospital emphasized that since June 21, all beds have been occupied. He added, “We have 15 patients in the emergency ward daily. They are in que to be hospitalized”, according to Javan, today. The head of Zaim Pakdasht Hospital told Fars news agency yesterday, “The Coronavirus trajectory has been out of control in the past 10 days. By shutting down the surgery section and completely allocating the ICU ward and 70 percent of the emergency ward to Coronavirus patients, approximately 80 percent of the Hospital’s capacity has been allotted to Coronavirus patients.”
Based on reports by physicians, from June 21 to July 31, 1,500 Coronavirus patients have been hospitalized in Tehran’s Khomeini Hospital, 310 of whom have died. In Fayazbash Hospital, the number of fatalities in recent weeks stands at 110. The medical personnel are extremely exhausted and need some time off. But because there have been no new employments and due to the high number of patients, this has been impossible. In Tehran’s Amir Al-Mo’menin Hospital, all wards are full of Coronavirus patients. Some 57 Hospital personnel were infected, and several died. There’s a severe shortage of nurses. Each nurse attends to at least three patients in the ICU, which is quite a heavy burden. The medical staff are dissatisfied. Despite the increase in their working hours, they have not been given any pay raise. Even regular wages are hardly being paid.
According to the report by the medical staff of Ganjavian Hospital in Dezful, in six days, 40 people died due to Coronavirus last week, and the total death toll in this hospital since the beginning of the outbreak is more than 450.
According to another report by the physicians in Shiraz, 15 to 20 patients have died every day over the past 20 days, raising the total death toll during this period to least 350. This figure includes those who were tested positive. Adding those “suspicious of having Coronavirus,” the total number would at least double. The city cemetery is now facing a crisis, and its staff are working in two shifts round-the-clock. The situation in other cities of the Province, such as Kazeroun, Jahrom, Darab, and Fasa, is also critical, and the number of fatalities is very high, which is not included in Shiraz’s figures. Many patients die before they manage to go to the hospital. In villages, those who die due to Covid-19 are buried in remote houses or cemeteries, and the number of those deaths are not registered anywhere.
In Khorasan Razavi, Kashmar governor told Mehr news agency yesterday, “The number of patients hospitalized in Moddarres Hospital has grown 14 times higher than before.”
