“This regime can and must be overthrown”
Coinciding with the 32nd anniversary of the 1988 massacre of (30,000) political prisoners in Iran, Resistance Units and young supporters of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK/PMOI) throughout the country, paid tribute the martyrs of this manifest case of a crime against humanity and called for justice and the prosecution of the perpetrators and masterminds of this heinous crime, many of whom are currently among the officials and leaders of the ruling regime. The activists also displayed their outrage and abhorrence at the August 5 execution of Mustafa Salehi, a detained protester.
These activities took place in Tehran and most other cities across Iran, including, Isfahan, Damavand, Tabriz, Karaj, Ahvaz, Rasht, Hormozgan, Sari, Bandar Abbas, Shahriar, Dezful, Kerman, Ardabil, Khorramabad, Shushtar, Sanandaj, Hamedan, Hashtgerd, Abadan, Sardasht, Shahreza (Isfahan), Chabahar, Kermanshah, Ahvaz, Arak, Mashhad, Dorud, Shiraz, Saqez, and Kashan.
Some of the slogans were: “Maryam Rajavi: The masterminds of the massacre of 30,000 MEK activists must be brought to justice,” “Maryam Rajavi: Rebellious youth are inspired and motivated by the fallen heroes of the 1988 massacre,” “We neither forgive nor forget the 1988 massacre of defenseless prisoners,” “We demand accountability for the perpetrators and masterminds of the1988 massacre, which is a manifest case of a crime against humanity,” “The sacrifice of the martyrs of the 1988 massacre is the source of inspiration for those rising up in the streets today,” “The 1988 massacre is the biggest unpunished crime against humanity,” “Massoud Rajavi: The Resistance Units will triumph,” “Maryam Rajavi: Our commitment is to restore the people’s rights that have been taken away from them,” “Down with Khamenei, hail to Rajavi”, “We support the workers’ strikes,” “Down with the oppressor be it the Shah or the regime leader (Khamenei)”, “Hail to the martyr of the uprising Mostafa Salehi.”
