Annual Quds Day event Car convoy canceled due to virus uptick
The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) announced on Thursday, May 21, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll in 319 cities had exceeded 43,300. The number of victims in East in Khorasan Razavi is 3,060, Khuzestan 3,125, Azerbaijan 1,520, Sistan and Baluchestan 1,330, Hamedan 1,266, Lorestan 1,265, and Kurdistan 815.
The scale of the tragedy is such that today Qassem Janbabai, the Deputy Health Minister, told ILNA news agency, “About 10,000 medical staff in the country have contracted Coronavirus.” As such, it is clear that the official figures have been falsified and engineered.
While the number of patients, even based on the Health Ministry’s engineered figures, is steadily rising, reaching 2,392 today, on Wednesday, Rouhani spoke of “declining trend of the Coronavirus prevalence that is about to be contained.” He shamelessly blamed the outbreak in some provinces on people “not following the instructions completely.”
Speaking to Quds force news agency, Tasnim, today, Saeed Namaki, the regime’s Health Minister, followed Rouhani to express concern over a new peak in Coronavirus pandemic and blamed the population again: “We are witnessing the recurrence of the pandemic in Khuzestan and in certain other provinces. This is entirely due to a lack of respect for hygienic measures and regulations. I implore the people not to travel during Eid al-Fitr holidays, as travel means new infections. If we have to face a new rise in the pandemic, my colleagues and I would have a hard time dealing with such a rise. The respectable citizens who travel around for fun bring with them the illness for a long period again.”
Es’haq Jahangiri, Rouhani’s first deputy, speaking to IRGC news agency, Fars, on the next school year, said yesterday, “There is a possibility that the situation would be worse at that time. Certain physicians believe we might witness a new Coronavirus outbreak in autumn. Even in the most optimistic scenario where the virus would be somewhat curbed, the notion that things would get back to normal would be wrong.”
Contrary to Rouhani’s claim of containing the epidemic, authorities in different provinces speak of critical and red situations.
In Lorestan Province, the deputy governor told the state-run news agency, ILNA today, “Warning has been issued in the Province. In the past five days, the state of the virus in five cities, Khorramabad, Borujerd, Dorud, Azna, and Chegeni, has been classified as acute.”
In Borujerd, the head of the Health and Treatment Network told the official news agency, IRNA, today, “Unfortunately, the number of those infected with the Coronavirus and those hospitalized are increasing every day. We are trying to manage the virus but have not reached a point where we can control it.”
In Mashhad, the Medical Sciences University’s public relations office was quoted by the Tasnim news agency as saying, “Based on the new definition of the Health Ministry about the state of major cities, Mashhad is again in the state of red right now.”
The deteriorating situation forced the regime to call off the ridiculous theatrics regarding the so-called Quds (Jerusalem) Day. Health Ministry Spokesman said in this respect, “The usual Quds Day event will not be held. And what was planned as a convoy of cars was also canceled given the problems it would have caused.”
