Opposition to the reopening of schools is growing

· Alireza Salimi, Regime’s Deputy Medical Council: The Health Protocols and instructions are not applicable in most schools. The prolonged incubation period of Coronavirus puts children at risk with their affected classmates for a long time, and this cannot be detected and controlled. (ILNA, September 6, 2020)

· Minoo Mohraz, member of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT): It was not a good time to open schools at all. We must expect a new wave of the outbreak after the recent (summer) trips and (Muharram) ceremonies. If this wave coincides with the children going to school, the situation will be hazardous. Any official I talk to they offer no justification for this action. Many provinces have disobeyed the minister’s order and did not open schools. (State-run, outlet, Jamaran website, September 6, 2020)

· Morteza Haji, former regime Minister of Education: If (Reopening the schools) does not endanger the children, it should naturally not threaten President Rouhani; why should he announce the beginning of the school year via Internet, but the students are going to stand in line and go to the classroom? (ILNA, September 6, 2020)

· Anoush Barzigar, Head of Gilan’s Medical Council: The responsibility for the infection and death of even one student or teacher will be the responsibility of the decision-makers and is unforgivable. (State-run news site, Jahed news, September 5, 2020)

· Hossein-Ali Shahriari, head of the health commission in the regime’s Parliament: One billion euros from the foreign exchange reserve fund has been withdrawn to counter the Coronavirus, but it has not been transferred to the Health Ministry’s account. (Resalat daily, September 6, 2020)
