Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll in 392 Cities Surpasses 89,600

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) announced on Sunday, August 16, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll in 392 cities across Iran had passed 89,600. The number of victims in Tehran is 21,985, Khorasan Razavi 6,475, Khuzestan 6,190, Mazandaran 4,245, Lorestan 3,682, East Azerbaijan 2,566, Golestan 2,525, Hamedan 2,254, Kermanshah 2,170, North Khorasan 1,427, Semnan 1,122, Central Province 1,101, Ardabil 1,053, Yazd 1,040Qazvin 751, and South Khorasan 464.

Massoud Mardani, a member of NCCT, speaking to the State TV, today, said, “The power of virus transmission from one person to another has increased three to nine times … Anyone who suffers from acute fever is infected with Coronavirus and should be treated as such until proven wrong … Until two or three weeks ago, patients who came from Ahvaz were hospitalized for abdominal pain. Later, we realized it was Coronavirus. We thought that this disease does not affect children. Now, if one goes to the pediatrics Medical Center, Hazrat Ali Asghar, and Mofid Hospitals, which are three large pediatric centers, their Coronavirus wards are full to capacity, and even their ICU wards are full.” (State news network, August 16).
