The spokesperson for the regime’s Health Ministry announced the state-controlled figures for the number of Coronavirus victims in the past 24 hours as 208 dead, and 4,089 hospitalized in ICU. She told IRNA today, “Twenty cities of Mazandaran Province are red, and two cities are in the alert situation. The number of hospitalizations and infections in the Province has doubled in the past six weeks, and the increase in infections is worrying. Seven cities of Lorestan are red, and three are in an alarming situation, and the infection and hospitalization in Khorramabad, Aligudarz, Selseleh, and Delfan have a steeper slope. In Qom Province, the number of infections and hospitalizations has risen exponentially since mid-June.”

Iran Harirchi, the Deputy Health Minister, told the main state TV, yesterday, “They allocated one billion dollars to us (for Coronavirus), we have up till now received less than $300 million … We are now saying that the University Entrance Exam should be held. Those who live abroad… and are against the Islamic Republic, say, it should not be held. Now, if we say that the Entrance Exam should not be held this year, those whose (social media) accounts could be tracked will start, saying, didn’t we say from the beginning, that these reactionaries are against education and-knowledge?”

In Isfahan, the spokesperson for the Medical Sciences University told IRNA today, “In recent days, the number of sick people who are infected and hospitalized in ICU wards has increased rapidly. Presently, the cities of Isfahan, Kashan, Chadegan, Khansar, Semirom, Shahreza, Falavarjan, and Fereydun Shahr are red.”

In East Azerbaijan, the rate of bed occupancy in Coronavirus wards has increased from 20 to 80 percent. The president of Tabriz Medical Sciences University told IRNA today, “The average daily deaths in the Province was 12. We ask all the population of the Province to assume that everywhere is in red.” The university’s vice president added, “One-fourth of Coronavirus patients in the Province are in ICU. Until yesterday, around 850 Coronavirus patients were hospitalized in the Province. About 200 are in ICU. If the current situation continues, the medical staff will be exhausted, and the hospitals may reach full capacity.”

In Khorasan Razavi, the head of Mashhad Medical Organization told ISNA yesterday that 13 medical personnel had died in the city and added, “Presently, almost 80 percent of Mashhad medical personnel are active in the fight against Coronavirus. One of the problems the medical personnel are facing is the procurement of protective equipment. Treatment centers and clinics are still facing shortages of medical equipment. Those centers with difficulty in procuring the necessary equipment have to purchase it in the open market several times the actual price.”

In the Central Province, the governor contradicted the Health Ministry’s report about the status of the Province. He told Mehr news agency today, “Despite the announcement by the Health Ministry concerning the improvement in the situation of offices, banks, and cemeteries today, no such thing is being observed in the Province. Government agencies, banks, and petrol stations are not in a good position.”
