MOIS and terrorist Quds Force elements sent to Camp Liberty under cover of residents’ relatives by Iranian regime’s embassy in Baghdad and Iraqi security officials under the command of Faleh Fayyad

This morning, September 10, more than 20 mercenaries of the Iranian regime’s Intelligence Ministry (MOIS) and terrorist Quds Force (QF) were transferred to Camp Liberty under the guise of “residents’ relatives.”

These mercenaries were transferred by minibus to the police station at Camp Liberty’s entrance by the Iranian regime’s embassy in Baghdad and the Governmental Committee tasked to suppress members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Camp Liberty that works under Iraq’s National Security Advisor Faleh Fayyad. There they chanted threatening slogans at the residents, while taking photographic and video footage from a high altitude and throwing stones.

This is the second time this week that these mercenaries have been brought to Camp Liberty. They spent the entire day on Monday September 7 outside Camp Liberty chanting slogans and threatening residents.

These agents could not have passed through the several checkpoints on their way to Camp Liberty without prior coordination with Iraq’s security institutions. It indicates the Iranian regime’s intentions to bring about another bloodbath at Camp Liberty.

Similarly, in the years 2010-2011, the Iranian regime’s mercenaries were stationed beside Camp Ashraf for some 23 months under the guise of residents’ families, and there they psychologically tortured the residents round the clock with 320 loudspeakers.

In response to the concerns of Camp Ashraf residents about a repeat of the psychological torture in Camp Liberty, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq on February 15, 2012, in an official letter assured them that no foreign force would travel to Camp Liberty.

On October 15, 2012, in response to a letter by Camp Liberty residents’ representative concerning the transfer of regime’s hirelings to the camp, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq wrote: “They [Iraqi officials] categorically denied that… Further, I can assure you with absolute certainty that UNAMI is not ferrying anybody to Camp Liberty under any guise.”

Mr. Struan Stevenson in a statement on September 7, 2015 said: “As the President of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Iraq at that time, I raised this matter (presence of the MOIS agents at the gates of Camp Ashraf) with UN and US officials in Baghdad, Brussels and Erbil and I addressed the matter in numerous telephone calls and correspondence. I was repeatedly assured that if the residents vacated Ashraf and moved to Camp Liberty, such aggressive activities against them would cease. Indeed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the UN Special Representative and the Iraqi Government, with the full approval of the US and EU, specifically guaranteed the protection of the Camp Liberty refugees and an end to all such aggressive measures.”

Mehran Karimdadi is in charge of stage managing for the agents who went to Camp Liberty this week. He had previously gone to the PMOI with a number of his family members. In early 2003 he left Iraq and joined the regime and provided his service to the MOIS. He has taken part in dozens of the Iranian regime’s televised shows against the PMOI.

This mercenary is working in the MOIS outfits called “Nejat Association” and “Habilian Foundation” in Mashhad. He carries out tasks relegated to him by the MOIS branches in Isfahan and Western Azerbaijan provinces, in particularly identifying, harassing, and persecuting PMOI activists.

He was one of the key individuals who took part in the regime’s gambit of psychological torture against Ashraf residents and took groups of mercenaries to Ashraf including in December 2010 and November-December 2011 and repeatedly interviewed the media outlets of the regime. Photos and video clips of the interviews are available.

He went to Camp Ashraf on December 26, 2010, simultaneous with a criminal attack by Iraqi forces on the camp’s hospital and the wounding of a large number of residents and the occupation of the hospital. He took part in a meeting that was organized by the Iranian regime and Nuri Maliki in Baghdad against Ashraf residents on November 19, 2011.

The Iranian Resistance has exposed this mercenary’s cooperation with the regime on several occasions. The Simay-e-Azadi television station in its program “Parvandeh” (number 29 in the series) titled “MOIS mercenaries in various provinces” broadcasted on August 21, 2006, identified Mehran Karimdadi as one of the most important agents of the MOIS in Khorasan Province.

In another program titled “The criminal gang of Habilian” broadcasted by Simay-e-Azadi on January 7, 2008, it was stated: “Mehran Karimdadi is the mercenary who at the outset of the US-Iraq war fled from the struggle against the clerical regime and immediately was recruited by the mullahs. He turned into a mercenary of the regime in Mashhad and Khorasan province…” Simay-e-Azadi TV had repeatedly exposed his activities for the mullahs at Camp Ashraf in 2010 and 2011.

The Iranian Resistance emphasizes on the repeated written commitments of the United Nations and the U.S. government regarding the safety and security of Camp Liberty residents and calls for immediate action to put an end to the psychological torture and the setting of the stage for the massacre of the residents and to keep away the agents of the Iranian regime and MOIS from Camp Liberty, whatever their pretext.
