MEP expresses solidarity with Iranians on hunger strike in Camp Liberty, Iraq

NCRI – In a message to the residents of Camp Liberty, Member of the European parliament, Mr. Tunne Kelam expressed his solidarity with the residents.

Mr. Tunne Kelam, who is a member of the Foreign Affairs Commission at the European Parliament assured the residents that their concern over the seven Camp Ashraf residents taken hostage by Iraqi forces have reached the highest levels in the European Parliament.

Iranian dissident in Camp Liberty, Iraq and five countries across the world continued their hunger strike calling for the release of seven Camp Ashraf residents taken hostage by Iraqi forces on September 1.

The Iraqi forces upon the order of Nouri al-Mailki and at the behest of the Iranian regime attacked Camp Ashraf and killed 52 members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

Mr. Kelam expressed hope that the enough pressure would be brought on the Iraqi official to free the seven Camp Ashraf hostages.

He described the Camp Liberty residents hunger strike as the “outmost expression of protest” and expressed his support for their call to free the seven hostages.

He assured the residents that their commitment to freedom in Iran will prevail.

Among those on hunger strike are the mothers, fathers, children and other family members of the martyrs and hostages of the September 1 massacre of PMOI members in Camp Ashraf.

Simultaneously, Iranians in the cities of Geneva, London, Berlin, Ottawa, and Melbourne are also on hunger strike.

The hunger strikers are pressing for the release of the seven Camp Ashraf hostages that are being held by al-Maliki forces in Baghdad Green Zone Area.
