Many of the hunger strikers are now suffering from severe weight loss, reduction of eyesight and hearing, digestive abnormalities, insomnia, and other conditions, and many have been placed under medical surveillance.
At Camp liberty, where hundreds of residents are on hunger strike, 20 percent have lost over ten kilograms in weight, and some up to 16 kilograms.
Switzerland’s Tribune de Geneve newspaper said of the hunger strikers in Geneva: “They are in an alarming physical condition and suffer from dizziness, headaches , digestive problems , bone pain, blurred vision and sleep disorder.”
The dissidents have declared they are calling on the United Nations and the United States to honor their commitment to protect the residents of Camp Liberty and to act urgently to free the seven hostages who are all protected as asylum seekers the 4th Geneva Convention.
They are also calling for an independent and transparent UN investigation into the September 1 massacre.
