Hunger strike continues as many need urgent treatment at Camp Liberty clinic

NCRI – Camp Liberty hunger strikers are in an increasingly critical physical condition with many nearing death as their protest enters its 13th week.

One hunger striker suffered severe shortness of breath and weakness before fainting on Monday and was urgently transferred to the camp’s clinic. He has so far lost 22 per cent of his weight and is suffering from blurred vision, severe headaches and pain in the muscles and joints.

At midnight on Sunday, another hunger striker began vomiting and experienced dizziness and cold sweats as his blood pressure dropped. A third striker experienced a sudden drop of blood pressure on Monday afternoon and is being treated with a serum injection although his condition has not yet stabilised.

At least 12 others are suffering from severe fatigue and headaches and being transferred to the camp’s Iraqi clinic for weight loss, digestive problems, hypertension, muscle pain due to hunger strike.
Many Iranian dissidents in Camp Liberty and around the world are on hunger strike to demand the release of seven Iranian dissidents abducted by Nouri al-Maliki’s forces, for the presence of UN blue helmets at Camp Liberty and in protest at the massacre of 52 residents of Camp Ashraf on September 1.
