A dozen Iranian dissidents on 85th day of hunger strike transferred to Camp Liberty clinic

NCRI – A dozen of Iranian dissidents who are on hunger strike in Camp Liberty were transferred to the camp’s clinic as they entered their 85th day of their hanger strike calling for the release of seven Camp Ashraf residents taken hostage by Iraqi forces on September 1.

Five woman and 6 men were transferred to the Iraqi clinic at the camp due to symptoms caused by the long-term hunger strike. One hunger striker fainted and was immediately transferred to the clinic.

In the meanwhile, due to lack of medical facilities and medications at the camp, the doctors are facing serious problems in giving urgent care to the hunger strikers.

Following the September 1st attack at Camp Ashraf, where 52 members of Iranian opposition movement, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) were killed and 7 taken hostages, many Iranian dissidents in Camp Liberty, Iraq and across the world went on hunger strike demanding the release of 7 Iranian dissidents abducted by Maliki forces and the presence of UN blue helmets at Camp Liberty.
