IRGC chief advisor says Rafsanjani ouster imminent

NCRI – An advisor to the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said that Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani’s removal as the head of the mullahs’ Assembly of Experts is imminent.

Saffar Harandi, whose comments were published by state-run media, said, “Mr. Hashemi has at every stage of the way been removed from the sphere of his responsibilities. We will see in the next round of elections for the presiding board of the Assembly of Experts that he will be removed [as chairman].”

“Rafsanjani’s followers are afraid of this and want to do everything to avoid it,” he added.
