Loudspeakers increased to 210 to intensify the psychological torture of Ashraf residents

NCRI – Unable to confront waves of popular uprising, the religious fascism ruling in Iran is attempting to survive through all the more intensifying suppression and pressures on Ashraf residents.

Yesterday, agents of the Iranian regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) who have been psychologically torturing Ashraf residents for more than a year, with assistance from Iraqi forces under command of Iraq’s prime ministry, have installed 30 new loudspeakers at Ashraf’s eastern flank to add new dimension to the psychological torture of the residents.

Thus, the number of loudspeakers employed to harass the residents round the clock since February 8, 2010, now stands at 210. These include 57 in the west (main entrance), 63 in the south, and 90 in the east of Ashraf. The Iraqi forces and the MOIS agents have also installed a new tower in southeast of Ashraf intending to install more loudspeakers in this flank.

The psychological torture of Ashraf residents is a clear violation of international conventions, especially the Fourth Geneva Convention, and as ruled in 27 December 2010 writ by Spain’s National Court and in the Statute of International Criminal Court, it constitutes war crime, and its perpetrators, either in the Iraqi government or in the religious fascism ruling Iran, must be punished.
The Iranian Resistance draws the attention of the US government and US forces in Iraq as well as the United Nations to their responsibilities with regard to the protection of Ashraf residents and urges them to take immediate action to end the psychological torture and the siege on Ashraf.
