Iraqi bishop says siege on Ashraf should be lifted

NCRI – The Secretary General of Iraq’s Christian Democrats movement has condemned the inhumane siege of Camp Ashraf, where 3,400 members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), and said it should be lifted immediately.

Father Bardelian Aziz also expressed his condolences for the death of Ashraf resident Mehdi Fathi, a cancer patient who passed away recently as a result of the siege and lack of access to proper medical services.

In his message, the father said, “The Iranian regime is terrified about the prospect of the regime being changed with a democratic government. The regime, therefore, opposes any active political force which campaigns in this regard.”

“The regime is also terrified of the domestic situation because currently Iran is like a volcano that requires leadership. The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran is the only organization that can provide such leadership towards the future and security,” he said.
