International Transport Workers’ Federation has announced solidarity with Iranian workers

NCRI – The International Transport Workers’ Federation has announced solidarity with Iranian workers, expressing deep concerns over pressures on workers’ activists by the clerical regime, Radio Farda reported on Tuesday.

The ITF’s General Secretary, David Cockroft, called for unconditional release of imprisoned workers and emphasized that as a member of the International Labor Organization, the Iranian regime is obliged to respect international norms. He also said the regime would be responsible for the life of Reza Shahabi, who is currently on hunger strike.

Separately, the Secretary General of the Trade Union Congress, Brendan Barber, also called for the immediate release of imprisoned bus union activists in Tehran as well as the lifting of pressures on unions and syndicates in Iran by the clerical regime.
