Former Guards commander voices worry over continuing protests

GhasamiNCRI – A former commander of the Iranian regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Qassemi, has expressed worries about continuing popular protests in Iran, saying that protestors may become stronger in the future. He added that this is why the mullahs’ Supreme Leader is still trying to analyze the “sedition.”

Qassemi, whose remarks were published by the state-run Fars news agency, said, “The large sedition of 2009 targeted the pillars of Islam and the velayat-e faqih [absolute clerical rule. After nearly a year, the leader of the revolutionary is still analyzing the sedition and has kept its file open; This shows that this infected wound can reopen somewhere else.”

He added, “We are not aware of future seditions and how they may look. Therefore, our leader is preparing us for those days and the heavy impacts they may have.”
