Iranian regime worried about upcoming protests

Uprising against KhamneiNCRI – Iranian state-run media are voicing worries about the possibility of popular protests on the upcoming Student Day on December 7 as well as a the religious ceremony of Muharram.

“Forces of sedition,” they said, are about to “exploit” Student Day in order to “insult the sanctities of the establishment.”

The state-run Fars news agency said on Sunday, “The Iranian nation is still mourning over the shameful insults by [protestors] on Ashura day,” referring to the burning of posters of the regime’s current and former supreme leaders, Ali Khamenei and Khomeini.

During extensive anti-regime protests on Ashura day, which fell on December 27, 2009, protestors set fire to posters of Khomeini and Khamenei.
