NCRI – Iraqi forces have repeatedly denied medical treatment for a female cancer patient at Camp Ashraf, where 3,400 Iranian dissidents reside, a Palestinian daily wrote on Saturday.
Reporting on the persistent violations of the rights of Camp Ashraf residents, home to members of the main Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Iraq, the al-Qods daily wrote, “Iraqi forces have repeatedly prevented the transfer of Ms. Elham Fardipour, a cancer patient, to hospital.”
“She was scheduled to be hospitalized on November 9 and Iraqi forces and Iraqi officials at Ashraf hospital had agreed on her transfer. But, the night before the appointment, Omar Khalid Tamimi, the [Iraqi] chair of the Ashraf hospital, announced that the female resident must not be accompanied with a translator or nurse and only by Iraqi forces.”
The paper added, “The Iranian Resistance says that clearly this situation is unacceptable when there is chemo therapy involved with all its symptoms.”
Al-Qods added, “The Iranian Resistance has called on the UN Secretary General, UNAMI and the American government and forces to enact urgent measures to lift the inhumane siege on Ashraf, which has continued for the past two years, and in particular to ensure free and unconditional access of the residents to medical treatment.”
