NCRI – A Namibian uranium mine said it is mulling what to do with a stake held by the Iranian regime in light of the latest U.N. sanctions, according to Reuters.
The Iranian regime holds a 15 percent stake in the Rossing Uranium Mine in Namibia in southern Africa, one of the world’s biggest open-pit uranium mines, Reuters said.
The mine is majority-owned by Anglo-Australian mining giant Rio Tinto.
Namibia is the fourth largest producer of uranium in the world after Kazakhstan, Canada and Australia.
State-run media in Iran have voice worries about the possibility of the regime losing the assets. Khabar Online said that Namibia is considering “pocketing” Iran’s 15 percent share in the world’s largest uranium mine.
