Palestinian minister voices solidarity with residents of Ashraf

Palestine ZananNCRI – The Palestinian Authority’s Minister for Women’s Affairs sent a message this week to the residents of Camp Ashraf to voice solidarity with them.

The camp, which is situated near Baghdad, Iraq, is home to about 3,400 members of the main Iranian opposition the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). The outgoing Iraqi government has laid a suppressive siege on Camp Ashraf at the behest of the Iranian regime provoking denunciations from around the world.

In her message to the residents of Ashraf, Dr. Rabiheh Zayab said the siege should be lifted and called on the United Nations to protect the unarmed residents in accordance with the Fourth Geneva Convention.

The English translation of excerpts of Dr. Zayab’s message is as follows:

“On behalf of the women of Palestine, we salute our sisters in Camp Ashraf and demand the lifting of the unjust siege on the camp. As the women and people of Palestine, we declare our solidarity with our sisters and brothers there and announce that injustice will never last.

We hope that God will answer the wishes of the people of Palestine for the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital as well as for the freedom of our sisters and brothers in Camp Ashraf. We especially call on the United Nations to protect all unarmed refugees everywhere in accordance with the Fourth Geneva Convention.

In this holy month of Ramadan, I send my heartfelt salutations to our sisters and women in Camp Ashraf.”
