Iran: Save the life of Arjang Davoudi, a political prisoner on his 50th day of hunger strike

Sample ImageNCRI – The life of Arjang Davoudi, a political prisoner, is in serious danger on his 50th day of hunger strike. He has been in Ward 3 of Gohardasht Prison since July 14 as a political prisoner. He went on hunger strike in protest to pressures by the regime including ban on family visits and confiscation of his private house leaving his family homeless. Since November 2003, he has been subjected to various forms of torture and pressures in several prisons including Evin, Bandar-Abbas and Gohardasht.

The regime's henchmen have denied him of medical services and on August 28 they interrogated him for hours while he was unable to move. Ali Haj Kazem, head of Gohardasht Prison, has increased the pressures on Mr. Davoudi and is refusing any medical care to him. Haj Kazem is hated by the prisoners since he has been involved in physically eliminating the prisoners through injection of poisonous medicine and also in systematic trade on prisoners' body organs.

The Iranian Resistance calls on human rights organizations, the United Nations Secretary General, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UN Rapporteurs on arbitrary arrests and torture to take urgent measures to save the lives of Iranian political prisoners particularly Mr. Davoudi.
