Iranian regime may be on the brink of collapse, Russian commentators say

Ria NovostiNCRI – Two Russian commentators have written in an opinion piece that the clerical regime is on the brink of collapse owing to the conflicts brewing in its dominant factions.

In an article posted on Tuesday by Moscow’s Ria Novosti news agency, Maria Yefi Mova and Igor Kryuchkov wrote, “In an unprecedented move, [the mullahs’ Supreme Leader Ali] Khamenei called on the Iranian regime’s key political figures, including [the mullahs’ President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad to cease a power struggle, because such divisions serve to weaken the regime.”

“If such political divisions were to deepen further, then the Iranian regime might find itself on the brink of a downfall in light of the worsening and unstable economic situation,” Mova and Kryuchkov wrote.
