Iranian regime cuts off communication to political prisoners

Iranian regime cuts off communication to political prisonersNCRI – The clerical regime has banned political prisoners incarcerated at the notorious Evin Prison’s Ward 350 from telephone contacts with families. The move takes place in the context of the dictatorship’s efforts to increase the pressures and restrictions on the prisoners, and is usually meant to intensify the already intolerable prison conditions. The cutting off of communications from inside prison has worried family members.

Separately, prison guards have decreased the number of cells for political prisoners, giving one of the cells at Ward 350 of Evin Prison to regular prisoners. As a result, cells are overcrowded, with each cell holding 30 to 36 political prisoners. Currently, in each cells one third of prisoners sleep on the floor, and despite the intense summer heat, the cells lack adequate coolers.

The regime’s prison guards also destroyed a small library at the Ward which former political prisoners and current ones like Ali Saremi had laboriously tried to set up.
