IRGC officials admit to more defections as social protests expandNCRI – One of the ideological proponents of exporting the Iranian regime’s terrorism abroad has confessed to the existence of serious divisions among senior officials, adding, "It is now even hard to trust many of the establishment’s own people because one never knows if someone has joined hands with the enemy.”

While publishing the confession on June 9, the state-run Fars news agency, also added that in a speech made during an IRGC session, Hassan Abbasi, a well-known theoretician of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on exporting terrorism, referred to the “fall and dissolution of elites” during the year-long nationwide uprising and added, “One of the lessons learned from the events of the past 12 months was that we cannot count on many of the establishment’s own who were blessed by [the clerical regime’s founder Ruhollah] Khomeini and senior officials because sometimes their hands might actually be joined with the enemy’s.”

Abbasi added, "Our only disappointment as a result of the fall of certain leading figures in recent events was that they insisted on their viewpoints and issued ambiguous remarks domestically. In the future, we hope and pray to God that we not have any unwise officials in the Islamic Republic".

Recently, a former regime official in the Mir Hossein Moussavi government in the 1980s, and a close associate of the mullahs’ Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Morteza Nabavi, said that numerous experts and senior officials have clearly stated that they have defected.
